The Old Fat Spider is a pretty solid that looks good on offense and defense. It may not have , but small creatures not being able to block it should mostly eliminate the creature problem and also makes it harder to chump block. Then, having and being a 6/7 makes it a very nice blocker, especially because it's hard to answer without giving your opponent a free card. Outside of the rares, Old Fat Spider looks like the best thing to ramp into. It's huge, it blocks everything, and when it's time to start attacking, it demands an answer. For six mana , you can't ask for much more - and yet you get more anyway. If an opponent can kill this, you get a replacement card.

Get your Old Fat Spiders and Gathering of Darkness while you can, in other words.
