Reviews

Oh boy, is that a vanilla creature? Believe it or not, vanilla creatures used to be a big part of Limited, yet WotC decided to phase them out entirely. Ordinary Bear is probably not good enough in 2026, but a 4/5 is at least a good size for a . It also enables and bear typal synergies, so it might be worth playing in the right deck.

Roles in each deck

  • Ferocious Wolves Sets up the plan

Reviewers dismissed this 4/5 for 4 with no abilities, and in most decks it is filler. Here it is a 4-power creature that survives most combats and a Bear for Beorn the Fierce.

    How to play it

With no better 4-power creature out on turn 4, it is the one your Rabbit and Pursuer depend on, so don't throw it into a bad block.

  • Beasts and Burn Sets up the plan

Five toughness walls most early attackers while it keeps on, and as a Bear it becomes a 6/7 next to Beorn the Fierce.

    How to play it

Leave it home to block. It comes around pick 10, so there is no reason to take it early.

  • Patchwork Midrange Filler

Ordinary Bear has no abilities, and the 4/5 still blocks most early creatures without dying and counts as a Bear for Beorn the Fierce.

    How to play it

Put it down on turn 4 as your wall and start attacking once has dealt with their biggest creature.
