Few also give you the ability to ramp into them early on. Explore is a very powerful ramp spell, so now imagine if instead of drawing you a random card, it drew you a guaranteed play for turn 5. That's exactly what you get with Till and Tend, ramping into Beorn, Reluctant Host a little later, which is something I'm very interested in doing.

Crude Bent Blade puts immense pressure on green fatties in the format, to the point that cards like Beorn, Reluctant Host and Wilderland Scrounger feel nearly unplayable.

If you've ever seen Beorn, Reluctant Host die to a Crude Bent Blade, you know what I mean.

How to draft it

Trap. Five mana buys a 5/5 trampler with no other abilities, and the opponent answers it with a 3-mana Bilbo's Deadly Slice or a 2-mana Stone by Sunlight.

Roles in each deck

  • Ferocious Wolves Finisher

This common is a different card from the mythic Beorn the Fierce. A cheap answer like Bilbo's Deadly Slice kills its one 5/5 trampler, and its , Till and Tend, only lets you play an extra land.

    How to play it

This job goes better to Large Bear or Ordinary Bear. If you play it, cast Till and Tend only with a second land in hand.

  • Elf Landfall Threat

Its 2-mana , Till and Tend, lets you play an additional land this turn and does nothing without a second land in hand. Beorn himself is a 5-mana 5/5 trampler, and Large Bear does the same job at the same cost with and added.

    How to play it

Leave it in the pack. Till and Tend is worth casting only with two lands in hand and a card on the battlefield, for two triggers in one turn.

  • Beasts and Burn Threat

Easy to mix up with the mythic Beorn the Fierce, this common is a plain 5-mana 5/5 trampler, and its half, Till and Tend, lets you play an additional land this turn. Large Bear costs the same and adds and .

    How to play it

Play it only if you are one card short of a full deck. Cast Till and Tend only with a spare land in hand.
