A 1-mana 2/1 is already a good start. I think what really stands out about Dwarven Mauler though is the fact that so much of the equipment in The Hobbit is quite expensive to equip, which makes a mana discount like this incredibly valuable. The dwarf decks are going to want plenty of good creatures for their equipment, and this one definitely qualifies.

    How to play it

    Attack from turn 2 while the way is clear. Later, move onto it with leftover mana instead of paying full price for another creature. A 1-toughness creature to almost anything, so don't stack everything on it while the opponent has mana up.
