Reviews

I've been waiting for a sweet Ghostly reprint for quite some time, but Gone Fishing really isn't what I'm looking for. Still, flickering two creatures should be able to generate some good value and flickering lands can help to trigger abilities, so running out Lake-town Mariners later in the game is also a nice win condition. This is a pretty good card all round, but a bit too expensive to be particularly exciting.

Lake-town Mariners: Have yet to be blown out by this, but in theory you could use it for speed triggers, untapped blockers, surprise enters abilities, or even a draw step Stony-Voiced Goblins.

How to draft it

Roles in each deck

  • Draw Two Finisher

Both halves are expensive. The creature is a 6-mana 6/5 Human with and 2, and Gone Fishing is a 4-mana that exiles two of your creatures and/or lands and returns them at once, so their enter abilities happen again. A deck built on 2- and has little use for either half.

    How to play it

At the end of the opponent's turn, Gone Fishing on Patient Instructor and Long Lake Nuisance gives two recruits, so the second draw triggers your payoffs even on their turn. It needs two targets, and a land counts as one. It can also save two creatures from , and you can still cast the 6/5 afterwards.
