Back in Throne of Eldraine, Ardenvale Tactician was white's best common. The ability to interact with combat and then become a threat on the board makes this a remarkable creature. Velvetwing Butterflies is only a little bit weaker than the Tactician was, but it should still pull its own weight in The Hobbit Limited.

Velvetwing Butterflies: Be careful racing white decks, as you may find yourself down two attackers/blockers at a key moment.

Velvetwing Butterflies is the standout, bringing back memories of Ardenvale Tactician. It's almost the exact same card, trading an easier mana cost for a point of toughness. Tactician was very good in Eldraine and the Butterflies should be just as good here.

How to draft it

Roles in each deck

  • Draw Two Early play

Reviewers called it one of white's best commons, a 3-mana 2/2 whose taps one or two creatures. Your 3-mana slot is full of cards that draw (Patient Instructor, Bilbo Baggins, Burglar, The Mountain-king's Return, Great Gilded Boat), and the Butterflies feed none of your payoffs. Dwarves & Equipment gets far more from it (54.7%).

    How to play it

It fills a creature slot if you are short. Gaze in Wonder works best on your turn to two blockers before a big attack, or at the start of their combat to stop an attacker.
