Reviews

Tormenting Voice is a card that tends to see play every now and again, but it appears in basically every set. Much like last year's Melded Moxite, Ragged Short Spear looks like a very good variant of this effect because it gives you a very real in addition to the draw two. Sure, 3 mana is a lot to equip, but you did get this for free, so that's not a big issue.

Ragged Short Spear is a very neat little package. For two mana you get to draw some cards and leave behind a moderately effective . This looks like being better than the sum of its parts. Tormenting Voice is usually fine, and the Equipment, while not amazing, does play nicely with other cards in the set.

Ragged Short Spear lets you discard a card to draw two when it enters, which fixes a hand of too many lands. It is also an for Kíli and a noncreature spell for Bothersome Noisemaker, and later it gives +2/+0 for equip .

    How to play it

Discard a land you don't need, or a second Dori while the first is on the battlefield. Move it with Kíli's free equip or onto Dwarven Mauler for , since is a lot.

  • Burn and Draw Gets you extra cards

Discarding a card to draw two as it enters is good value, but +2/+0 rarely matters in a deck that blocks, and the equip is steep.

    How to play it

Cast it when you have an extra land or a card to discard. The one creature worth equipping is Bilbo, Luckwearer, an unblockable 3-power attacker.
