Reviews

I'm always a big fan of cheap creatures and on Ravening Warg, that deathtouch helps to elevate what could be a mediocre to a very valuable one. Since it trades for basically any creature, it's good to draw early and late, which is really all you need to see out of a solid 2-drop.

Those two, The Chief Warg, and Ravening Warg (don't underestimate the value of incidental lifegain in HOB) are the main reasons to care about .

How to draft it

Roles in each deck

  • Goblin Army Early play

on a 2-mana 2/2 means it trades with anything, attacking or blocking, so big creatures can't block it safely. adds 2 life each time it attacks.

    How to play it

Send it into bigger creatures, and the opponent either takes 2 or loses their best blocker. Once you fall behind in a race, keep it home to hold off their biggest attacker.

  • Ferocious Wolves Early play

makes this the blocker no big creature wants to attack into, and it is one of the Wolves Chief Warg's Company counts.

    How to play it

Once is on, send it in, since few players block a creature. Wearing Crude Bent Blade it is a 4/3 that switches ferocious on by itself.

  • Removal Control Early play

makes the 2/2 a fair trade for any attacker, so opponents stop sending their big creatures into it. Its life gain needs Large Bear or another big creature, so in this deck count it as a blocker.

    How to play it

Leave it home next to Desolation Prowler, and the two hold the ground for the first turns. attackers need two blockers, so against Gollum, Silent Slinker it needs a partner.

  • Removal Midrange Early play

is the reason to play it, because this kills anything it blocks and anything that blocks it. Attacking while you control Gollum, Silent Slinker or Large Bear turns on , which needs a creature with power 4 or greater, for 2 life.

    How to play it

Keep it home early, where their big creatures stop attacking into it. Attack only when they have no cheap creature to trade with it.
