Reviews
Well, Bilbo's mythic rare wasn't very impressive, so Smaug has to make up for it, right? It's very hard to argue with a 4/3 , dragon for only 4 mana and Smaug the Magnificent brings a lot more to the table, too. It ramps you, hits for extra damage on future turns, combines very well with anything that makes , and so on. There's really no way to play it badly. This Smaug is just really busted, and a great Headliner for The Hobbit.
Other generators like Dori, Bearer of Friends and Long-Bodied Grey Dog can turn Smaug the Magnificent into a spell, which is a great way to ensure value even if it gets answered.
Smaug the Magnificent: for a 4-power . Good luck.

Roles in each deck
Goblin Army Threat
lets the 4-mana attack the turn it lands, and from your next upkeep it makes a on each of your turns. Each attack deals damage equal to your Treasures to any target, so it picks off a blocker or a as it swings.
How to play it
Learn the Goblin Army deckAttack before you spend any . The trigger counts them as it , before blockers, so 3 Treasures kill a 3-toughness blocker first. More Treasures come from Dori, Bearer of Friends and The Sackville-Bagginses. Watch for an opposing Pinecone Strike, and for The Black Arrow, which destroys a Dragon it damages.
Dwarves & Equipment Threat
Smaug the Magnificent attacks the turn it lands, a 4-mana 4/3 with . Each of your upkeeps adds a , and each attack deals damage equal to your Treasures to any target, so every turn it survives it removes a creature or hits the opponent. The Dragon and its Treasures count toward too.
How to play it
Learn the Dwarves & Equipment deckCast it on turn 4 and attack at once. A saved from Dori already makes that first attack deal 1 damage, enough for a 1-toughness creature. Spend Treasures only when the mana wins the turn, since each one is a point of damage on every later attack.
Burn and Draw Finisher
This mythic is a different card from the common Smaug, the Great Calamity, and a in any red deck. The 4-mana 4/3 has and , makes a at the beginning of each of your upkeeps, and on every attack deals damage equal to the number of Treasures you control to any target.
How to play it
Learn the Burn and Draw deckTake it first pick and let it pull you into red. lets it attack on turn 4, though that first attack trigger deals damage only if you already have a , such as Dori's. Every Treasure you spend for mana is one less damage on the next attack, so spend them only on a play that matters.
Beasts and Burn Finisher
Each of your upkeeps the 4-mana hasty makes a , and each attack deals damage equal to your Treasures to any target, so it picks off a bigger creature every turn it stays alive.
How to play it
Learn the Beasts and Burn deckPick it over anything else in the pack and let it pull you into red. A from Dori, Bearer of Friends or Long-Bodied Grey Dog makes the turn-4 attack deal damage too. Every Treasure you spend is one less damage on the next attack, so spend them only on a play like an early Gandalf, Spark Starter.
