Reviews

Oh look, it's the generic 4-mana blue spell that puts a creature on the top or bottom of its owner's library. Uneasy Partings, like all of its predecessors over the last few years, will probably be one of the best blue commons and that's that.

Its spells (Uneasy Partings, Enchanted River's Grasp) aren't too bad, but it tends to play best when another color is providing cheap, reliable removal.

Uneasy Partings: Costs your opponent if you don't attack into it. You can safely attack Goblin into this on turn 3 thanks to the totally unnecessary nerf against black.

  • Elf Landfall Removal

Their creature goes into their library at speed, and since its owner picks top or bottom, they usually redraw it next turn. That buys a turn and the mana they spend to recast it. Counters and on the creature are gone for good, so it hits hardest on a creature they have built up.

    How to play it

Against an attacking nontoken creature it costs 3 instead of 4, so cast it on their turn after attackers are declared. A sent to the library stops existing, so it answers a big token for good, at the full 4 mana. Attack on the turn they spend recasting what you sent back.

  • Burn and Draw Removal

Blue's answer to a big creature puts it into its owner's library, on top or bottom as they choose. Against an attacking nontoken creature it costs less, and since this deck blocks and waits, the 3-mana price comes up most games. They usually choose the top and draw it again, so it costs them a turn and their next draw.

    How to play it

Hold 3 mana on their turn and cast it after they declare attackers. The best targets carry an or counters, since those are gone for good. A put into a library stops existing, so on a big it is , but tokens never get the discount.
